6.End of Therapy

When the planned number of radiation therapy sessions is reached, the therapy
      is finished

      Tests at the Therapy Completion
To evaluate the effect of the therapy, we perform CT or MRI scans. However, since the tumor might continue to shrink slowly over several months after the therapy is completed, even after more than six months, we might not be able to see the entire effect immediately after the radiation therapy is finished.

In addition, we conduct other tests as needed, such as a blood test or endoscopy, depending upon the disease, to confirm the effect of the therapy and presence of side effects.

      Explanations about the Patient's Condition
        upon Completion of the Therapy
Upon completion of the patient's radiation therapy, we provide explanations
of the effects and side effects of the therapy, as well as prospects and
cautions. We also discuss future directions with the patient. We give the
patient a document to track the progress after the therapy (the patient
chart), which will be used by the hospital, the patient, and the primary
care physician in order to share the follow-up information on the patient's
      condition.

      After Therapy Completion
Usually an inpatient can be discharged from our facility either on the day the therapy is completed or the next day. We give each patient a report that is issued to his/her primary care physician who made the referral to us.
